 Replacing integrated HU |

Hi,
I'm a newbie in ICE. Can check if it's possible to replace the integrated HU in FD? Will it cause any problem? How about the controls from the steering, will it be affected?
Heard it's not advisable to just replace the speakers and install amp on the integrated hu?

u can do a search to read some earlier post about this topic. In summary this the answers:
- Can replace the integrated HU. Buy the centre 2DIN console panel front Kah at abt $120 after 20% discount.
- If using Alpine HU, u'll need a additional adaptor to make the steering wheel remote to "talk" to your aftermarket Alpine HU, cost abt $160 (the adaptor from ICE installer).
- Integrated HU gives poor signal hence after market speakers feel "weak" if driven by HU direct.
- Add amps n use integrated HU will gives better signal but once again the signal is also poor but speakers gets more power bcos of amp. Best is still use after market HU n couple with amp to drive speakers.

Bro..side track a bit...i saw in Hotstuff mag that AE having a Focal promo at 480/- net. (usual price is 760/-)
Do u know whats inside this package?

What's the diff btw active and passive setup? |
Passive: Require only 2ch amp to drive your comp as it bypass the crossover to your tweeter & midbass
Active: Require 4ch amp, 2ch to tweeter & 2ch to midbass cause running w/out crossover
